There are chase missions where you're inside cop cars, escort or tailing missions where you have to stick with the same vehicle, missions where you have to contrive insane crashes to help out a camera crew for America's Most Insane Car Chases 4, missions where you're helping earnest Japanese boys to become street-racing heroes and fund their college education, and much more.

Driver takes full advantage of its premise, never holding back from ridiculous set pieces. As the game goes on, your Shift abilities improve and more of the city unlocks, until you can zoom right out for a bird's-eye view of the whole Bay Area. Instead of concentrating purely on driving fast and cornering smartly, you can suddenly send oncoming traffic zooming into opponents to take them out, or block routes with a truck, or traverse the entire city in seconds. Tanner himself initially finds this newfound ability – Shifting, as he calls it – as ridiculous and improbable as anyone, sending boy racers leaping off transporter trucks and careening around the city with six cop cars in pursuit just for fun. Ubisoft is the worst AAA company when it comes to PC gaming and they need to be held accountable for distributing product of this quality. On top of that there are reports of corrupted saves and problems with system compatibility, crashes and other problems that require messing with local files, reinstalling and manually deleting saves to fix sudden hangs and crashes that make the thing unplayable. This is a port of a racing game that doesn't properly support racing wheels, forcing you to play with a keyboard or, if the stars allign, maybe a 360 gamepad. Reportedly, at times it crashes even WITH a 360 controller. Simply put, if you plug in anything other than X360 controller, the game crashes on launch. Barren options menus, crash-prone, no longer available on Steam (and if you already have it on Steam it launches Uplay anyway) and, most importantly, extremely poor gamepad/wheel support. I don't know if the game is any good on the consoles (it was well-received), but the PC version is a disaster. This game gives solid more than 10 hours of gameplay and is worth the price. Everything being built into a shallow story, but again, one that provides a lot of wild racing and side challenges that are painfully simple (not always easy) yet appealing. The sounds and music are on par with the cars. The particle effects and damage model are also exceptional (funny enough, I find the smoke modelling to be the best ever in a pc game). The interiors are surprisingly well done for and arcade racer. Many of them drive very different, with few favorites being obvious (like the 4x4 cars for example). Not just sportscars, but also trucks of all kinds and normal city cars. Picked it recently and the SSS for a bargain and I really like it.
